Kingdom Come Deliverance Errors: Increase FOV, Heapsize RAM Allocation, Disable V-Sync

The game Kingdom Come Deliverance was released a few days back and instantly become a massive hit, the Game has over 300k digital copies sold now as per Steam. The game isn’t a hit in terms of performance though we have already written the FPS issue fix guide. Before you get into the part where you try a few tweaks to make the game run better it is recommended that you check whether you system is good enough to run the game or not, below are the system requirements of the game.

Common PC Errors

If your gig is good enough to run the game and matches the system requirements then there maybe a few possible reasons the game is not able to run at its fullest. It has been confirmed by the devs that they will be rolling out performance updates that will fix the game, also the Bloom that people are hating.

First of all whenever a game lags, it is recommended that you try tweaking the settings. Head to the settings area and adjust the settings, try low & medium and check how they perform. Try setting shadows to low, try switching between window/borderless window and fullscreen.

Stutter Fix for 4GB RAM or Lower

If you are facing stutters in the game, then use the following launch options

  • Go to Steam Library
  • Right Click on Kingdom Come Deliverance > Set Launch Options
  • Enter “-heapsize 524288”

What heapsize does is, it tells the game that RAM that your system has and it also helps reduce stutters and lags in the game.

You can use the following values according to the memory your system has:

  • 8GB RAM: -heapsize 1048576
  • 12GB RAM: -heapsize 1572864
  • 16GB RAM: -heapsize 2097152
  • 24GB RAM: -heapsize 3145728
  • 32GB RAM: -heapsize 4194304

How To Increase Fov – Field of View

If you want more visibility throughout the map, just press “~” key which will open up the console and type cl_fov 100 and this will set your fov to 100. The default fov that the game comes with is 75 in case you want to set it to default.

How To Turn off V-Sync

The graphic controls of the game are still limited even after so many updates, this was request for toggling on/off in when the beta release was pushed. But the developers forgot about adding it. There’s no setting that you can use to toggle this on/off but there’s a workaround:

  • Open up notepad type “r_vsync = 0” and save it as User.cfg
  • Now copy/paste the file to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance” or whatever your steam install location is.

Nvidia Settings for Increased Performance

  • Open Nvidia Control Panel by right clicking on your desktop
  • Click on Manage 3D settings > Program Settings > and locate Kingdom Come Deliverance. If you can’t find the name, just click on Add to locate it.
  • Set Max Pre-Rendered Frames to 1
  • Set Monitor Technology to G-Snyc (if available)
  • Enable Threaded Optimization
  • Set Power Management to Highest Performance
  • Enable Threaded Optimization
  • Set Refresh Rate to maximum available
  • Set Multi-Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration to Single display performance mode.
