For Honor Errors: Fix Low FPS, Stuttering, RAM & Matchmaking Issues

For Honor is among the most awaited games this year. It’s open beta recently ended giving a lot of players a taste of how the game will actually feel like. While the overall experience has been smooth this time for Ubisoft, there are a few things that require ironing out in For Honor. In this guide, I’ll give out the solutions for the most common errors, issues and other tricks which can plague first-time players of the game.

Note: Before you try any of these fixes, please consider updating your graphics drivers. Both AMD and Nvidia have released updated drivers for “For Honor” on PC. These drivers can help you alleviate a lot of crashes, issues and other problems without doing anything.

For Honor Not Starting (Crashes)

Some PCs can have trouble starting For Honor while others might just crash the game altogether. If you are one of the people having crashes while playing the game, try the following workarounds.

  • Temporarily disable your antivirus
  • Uninstall Nvidia Geforce Experience
  • Run Uplay and For Honor as Admin in Windows

For Honor Stuttering

  • Open For Honor.
  • Open the Task Manager by pressing Alt + Ctrl + Delete keys.
  • Switch to Details tab.
  • Right-click on honor.exe and click on Set Affinity.
  • Uncheck all CPUs except CPU 0.
  • Click OK and maximize the game.

After setting the affinity to a single core, you’ll get no stuttering while playing the game.

Low FPS (FPS Drops)

Some of the graphics settings in For Honor are very demanding. If you enable too many filters, switch to Very High preset in a few options, you’ll notice a noticeable FPS drop. The first thing you can do to fix low FPS problem is turning OFF Dynamic Reflections in the game. Set the Shadows to Medium or High. You’ll get a noticeable gain in the game’s FPS.

Change Language

For some players, For Honor is displaying languages other than English like Russian or Dutch. In the game menu, you can’t adjust this easily because you won’t understand the options. To fix this problem, you can edit the game’s options.ini file.

Press Windows key + R to open the Run box. Type notepad %USERPROFILE%\Documents\my games\For Honor\options.ini. This will open the options.ini file in notepad on your PC.

Press Ctrl + F to open the Find box. Search for language.
From there, edit the options as shown below.

1 is the ID for English. There are other supported languages like French (2), German (5), Russian, Chinese (7) and Russian (13).

Game Stuck on Black Screen

If For Honor is stuck on black screen on your PC, try disabling overlay from the Uplay client. For that, open Uplay and go to Settings > General and uncheck “Enable in-game overlay for supported games“.

Error 006000043 / blocked by EasyAntiCheat

Since For Honor is a multiplayer PvP game, you’ll find a lot of trolls and cheaters in matches. Cheaters, in general, will try to spoil your game and won’t allow you to play. To counter this, Ubisoft has bundled EasyAntiCheat. This is an anti-cheating framework which makes it hard for people to cheat and ruin it for everybody.

If your PC doesn’t have EasyAntiCheat installed, you’ll get the error 006000043 / blocked by EasyAntiCheat. You can fix this by installing the EasyAntiCheat on your PC.

Note: Before performing the steps mentioned below, try disabling your antivirus. See if that fixes the issue. If not, then proceed.

  • Open Steam and go to Library.
  • Right-click on For Honor and go to Properties.
  • In the Local Files tab, click on Browse Local Files button. This will open the game’s installation directory.
  • Open the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe present in this folder. Run it as an Administrator.
  • Select a game from the setup and click on Install.

Game Doesn’t Start in Fullscreen Mode

This is simple to fix. When you start For Honor, you’ll see the game launch in windowed mode. Click inside this window to bring it into focus. Now, press Alt + Enter keys on your keyboard. The game will switch to fullscreen instantly.

Lost 7-00000004 connection with Ubisoft servers Error

Disable NAT on your router to fix Lost 7-00000004 connection with Ubisoft servers Error. Since there are thousands of router types and each one of them has a different way of configuration, I can’t list everything here. You can check your router manufacturer’s guide for a start.

High VRAM and Memory Usage

For Honor looks quite good and thus uses high-quality textures and effects. This can certainly increase the amount of VRAM and Memory that it uses. If you are trying to run For Honor maxed out, try turning down a few options like Texture Quality and Filtering options to High or Very High.

Error 0006000009 / 0004000008 Kicked for Inactivity

Open Steam Big picture mode and go to Settings. From there, go to Controller settingsand uncheck the Controller config assistant everywhere.

Kicked for inactivity issue is exclusive to the users who are using a controller to play For Honor. Until a patch is pushed to fix this error, try your luck with the good old keyboard and mouse combo.

Matchmaking failed. Returning to the main menu. (0002000115)

Install the patch #1 which fixes matchmaking failed issue. Go to Steam and make sure that your game version is the latest.
