We have prepared this detailed guide that you can use for fixing all the issues that the game will come up with.

How To Fix Final Fantasy XV Crashing Issue

The crash was reported a lot on Steam and Square Enix forums. The root cause of this crash was Driver 390.77 which was pushed by Nvidia to fix a few issues and deliver new driver updates for PC users.

In order to fix this crash issue, all users would have to roll back to the previous version of the driver. You can use DDU or manually uninstall the driver by heading to the Windows Control Panel.

High Resolution Texture Pack Not Working

There were a lot of reports on the Sub-reddit of FFXV regarding the texture pack not working as intended. The problem was fixed by a few users by reinstalling the texture pack.

How To Download Final Fantasy XV High-Resolution Texture PACK

  • Go to this steam link
  • Click on “FFXV High-Resolution Pack” link
  • Scroll down, and click on the green “Play Game” button
  • This will start the download of the texture pack

This is a official steam DLC that has been supplied by the developer themselves for PC users that have high end machines. It is not recommended that you download this if you barely meet the minimum requirements for this game.

Enable HD Textures

Once you have download the textures DLC, you have to enable it manually from the game settings

  • Go to main menu > Options > Graphics > Assets
  • Now select Assets and change it to On
  • Select High
  • Save the settings

You have successfully enabled HD Textures.

Manually Edit Graphics Configuration File

If you are looking to manually edit the FFXV Graphics Configuration (GraphicsConfig.ini) file, the locations are as follows

Steam: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XV\Steam\<user-id>\savestorage\

Microsoft Store: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\39EA002F.FINALFANTASYXVforPC_n746a19ndrrjg\LocalState

Note: You won’t be able to locate this file if you have made no changes to the graphic settings of the game. To fix this, just open up the game, make some random changes to the game graphic settings and click on save. Now quit the game and the file will be created, you can edit it now.

Random Stuttering Issue Fix

The random stuttering is caused due to the on-screen control display which is useful for Gamepad users. Disabling this will fix the issue, just go to settings of the game and select guide and turn it off.

Black and White Flickering Issue

There are two reasons why this might be happening to your game.

  • FXAA in Nvidia Control Panel Enabled – The black and white flickering has been reported to be caused due to Nvidia FXAA set to ON. Disabling this will fix the issue.
  • Overclocked PC, Memory Leak – If Nvidia is not causing the issue then it probably is your machine causing it.

FFXV No Sound Issue

Switching to Stereo Mode or 7.1 Channel fixes this issue. You can also try updating your drivers.

Run FFXV in Borderless Windowed Mode (Fullscreen Borderless)

If you are trying to run the game in Borderless Fullscreen mode, you have to make a few changes to the graphic settings file of the game. This setting is really useful for users with Dual monitor setups. Read on to find out:

  • First head to the installation directory of the game. The default location is %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XV\Steam\<user-id>\savestorage\
  • You will be able to find a file named “GraphicsConfig.ini”
  • Double click on the file and edit it
  • Now press Ctrl + F and find HardwareFullScreenMode, the default value for this setting will be 1. You have to set it to 0 to enable the borderless fullscreen mode.

As mentioned earlier in the article. You won’t be able to locate this file if you have made no changes to the graphic settings of the game. To fix this, just open up the game, make some random changes to the game graphic settings and click on save. Now quit the game and the file will be created, you can edit it now.
